OUTREACH -
BRIGHT BEGINNINGS !

A wonderful opportunity to become involved in SPC's Community Outreach !

As each school year approaches, the SPC Outreach Committee begins supporting the YMCA Bright Beginnings program which links disadvantages children with caring contributors and volunteers who help these children acquire the clothes and supplies they need to start school

Locally this program is sponsored by the Midlothian and Manchester YMCAs. You can directly help the disadvantaged children from Chalkley and Bellwood Elementary Schools with their back-to-school needs by your participation.

Here are three ways you can become involved:

  1. Shop with a child at the Midlothian, Brandermill or Chester Target. Volunteers and children will meet at the store where shoppers receive a list of clothing and supplies to select with the child. This is funded through the program so no money is needed for this shopping spree. Dates and times in August are specified on the Involvement Form available at the Outreach display table in the Narthex. Pick up a form, select your shopping date, fill in your name address and phone number and return the form to the YMCA. You will be contacted by a YMCA volunteer with further instructions.

  2. Buy and fill backpacks or book-bags for children. Select a crayon for a Bellwood Elementary or Chalkley Elementary School
child from the board at the display table in the Narthex. Sign your name and phone number to the list at the table indicating
that you will be filling a backpack. Return all filled bags to the Church Library by August 18 and the Outreach Committee will
deliver them to the YMCA. Please attach the crayon to the bookbag.

  3. Make a monetary contribution to the program. Your contribution will go a long way to help provide clothing and supplies needed by so many children in Chesterfield County. Tax deductible checks can be made out to:

    • Manchester Family YMCA and mailed to:
7540 Hull Street Road, Richmond, VA 23235
      ATTN: Adele Rogge

These contributions will benefit children from Chalkley or Bensley Elementary Schools

    • Midlothian Family YMCA and mailed to:
737 Coalfield Road, Midlothian, VA 23114
      ATTN: Jan Wood

These contributions will benefit children from Bellwood Elementary

Note on your check: BRIGHT BEGINNINGS

We thank all of you at SPC for your support of our mission programs, and for your thoughts and prayers that go with us.
