In addition to checking out the information below, interested persons may contact Basil Snider (794-7872) for a professional video telling and showing details of our participation in this important CODEP work.CODEP projects are carried out in the hills (mountains) around Leogane and involve:
The ideal size of a volunteer group for this location is around eight since transportation to and from the mountains is via pick-up truck and/or Tap Tap.school for children and adults, soil conservation via growing and planting trees, trenching to prevent erosion, simple but specific gardening for food and soil conservation a variety of do-it-yourself maintenance and/or construction projects both in the schools and at the mission base compound The mission compound is named L’Acul. (Lah -ack cull). Volunteer groups stay at L’Acul in a second floor guesthouse which is located on a beach. It is cooled by ocean breezes, as well as ceiling fans. There are 4 bedrooms, which accommodate from two to six people and there are four baths, which have safe drinking water and hot showers.
The guesthouse is reserved this year for a Salisbury Presbyterian Church team from October 19 through the 26th, 2002. Determination of specific projects and the skills needed will be made during this summer and made known to all via this web site as well as in other church announcements.
If you are interested in participating in this select group, please contact Basil Snider (794-7872) or the church office: info@salisburypc.org (794-5311).
