The Salisbury Presbyterian Church FOUNDATION

ABOUT THE SPC FOUNDATION:

From Old Testament times onward, the gift of one's resources has been an important and proper response to God. In addition to gifts to the yearly operating budget and certain designated ministries, the Salisbury Presbyterian Church Foundation provides another opportunity for giving.

The Foundation was established by the Salisbury Presbyterian Church Session in 1998 and is governed by a Board of Directors approved by the Session.

The Foundation has three named endowed funds:

Gifts of all sizes, large and small, are welcomed and may be designated to one of these funds. Gifts not designated go to the General Fund. Gifts and bequests may be in cash or by transfer of securities, real estate or other properties. Foundation gifts are tax deductible, and may be recognized publicly or given anonymously.

Gifts are often made to the Foundation in memory of a loved one; in celebration of a birthday, anniversary, or other special occasion; or with a thankful heart for expanding the ministries of SPC.

Foundation financial and other records are kept confidential in a secure, fireproof safe in the church office. An annual report is made to the congregation concerning income and the distributiion of funds. Financial Records are audited annually.

Foundation funds are invested through the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Foundation in New Covenant Funds, a family of mutual funds that are managed in a way that is consistent with the social-witness principles of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Income (interest and dividends) shall not be used for the operating budget, but rather to expand the ministry of SPC.

The SPC Foundation made history with its first distribution of $2,000 in support of the Youth Haiti Mission Team on June 26, 2001. Since then, the Board has approved funds for the following purposes:

Please prayerfully consider a gift to the SPC Foundation. Your gift keeps on giving.

HOW TO REQUEST FUNDS

To request funds from the Foundation, please put your request in writing and submit it to the Clerk of the SPC Session for consideration by the Session.  The Session may or may not refer a request to the Foundation Board of Directors.  When a written request is sent to the Board of Directors, the Board is responsible for determining if the request reflects the purpose of the SPC Foundation.  Requests may come from the committees of the Session or Board of Deacons, the SPC Staff, the SPC Foundation Board of Directors or the Congregation.

The following funds are available for distribution as of March 30, 2007:  General Fund ($4,577), Youth Fund ($3,135), and Music Fund ($2,114).

Please check with the Treasurer of the Foundation to confirm availability of funds when considering a request.
